Tuesday 22nd November 2016 - 12:10 Aircraft Noise Campaign - Update
Aircraft Noise Campaign - Update John Cryer met with local residents and campaigners to launch a community campaign to end flight path misery for many Redbridge and Waltham Forest residents.

In February 2016 London City Airport received permission from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to concentrate all its flight paths. 1000s of furious local residents have been contacting me to object to the aircraft 'superhighway' above their homes.
John Cryer MP said:
"1000s of local residents are affected in Leyton, Leytonstone, Wanstead and Snaresbrook. There is more narrow flight paths in and out of the airport. Air traffic is now more concentrated, affecting many residents and there have been real concerns about City Airport's lack of engagement with the community."

Ms Shelia Bain, Cllr for Wanstead ward said:

"The lives of Wanstead residents are being made a misery by noise from these planes from early morning until evening with no respite not to mention the pollution being suffered. City Airport has to take a serious look at the awful effect these concentrated flight paths are having on people's daily lives and review them."

What residents say:

"I'm angry that my home and the area around has become a noise ghetto with all the additional planes that I and others in Wanstead are subject to, especially as City Airport made minimal effort to consult residents affected by their plans." Christopher - Wanstead Resident

"I'm all for enterprise, expansion and understand how important it is that people can easily travel to and from London. My huge problem is that the concentrated flight paths are UNEQUAL. The residents of London are not receiving the same amount of aircraft noise." Catherine - Leyton Resident

"Planes fly very low and very loudly over our house all day - if we're outside we have to shout over the noise if we're talking. It seems fairer to spread out the share of the noise so that many get some noise rather than a few getting all of it." Vaia, Alex and Kathy - Leyton Residents

HACAN East chair John Stewart, said,

"Communities have really been suffering since the change in the flights paths. We back this campaign to get City Airport to think again about these new flight paths."

John Cryer MP added:
"I am determined to work with local councillors from Redbridge and Waltham Forest to help improve local residents' quality of life. I am therefore asking people to support our campaign calling on City Airport and the Civil Aviation Authority to review the concentrated flight paths in February 2017. Local residents can register their support by emailing me at cryercommunitycampaigns@hotmail.co.uk and leaving their full name and address - subject: Aircraft Noise Campaign

Energy Companies - Use Your Power To Switch Many people are facing difficulties in the current financial climate.

While we face these pressures the energy companies, are making a fortune. A lot of people stay with the same energy company as they don't know how to go about switching.

I want to encourage people to use their consumer power, and hopefully this will get all of us a better deal.

If you want advice on how to switch please download the attached leaflet, produced by Consumer Focus and find out how to switch:

Wednesday 22nd June 2011 - 16:45 Building Schools for the Future?
Building Schools for the Future? One of the first things the Government did when coming to power was scrapping the school building programme, called 'Building Schools for the Future'.

The Government did not take into account, that many of these schools are in total disrepair. Children and staff are working in dilapidated, leaky and dirty buildings totally not fit for purpose. Many schools and Local Education Authorities were already in line waiting for money to start projects.

So whats been happening?

Monday 20th June 2011 - 17:20 King George Hospital Threat
King George Hospital Threat King George hospital faces the possibility of its Accident and Emergency Department and its maternity services closing.

This could lead to an increase in strain on the services of other local hospitals.

John Cryer has been working with fellow local MPs, Councilors and local residents on this issue.

The Campaign group Save King George Hospital, has been doing some great work in getting the issue known, and getting as many people and groups locally as possible involved.

John Cryer, along with a number of local MPs and activists, handed in a petition to Downing Street against plans to close these services. They have also met with the NHS locally about the proposals.

On 15th June we held a very well attended public meeting in Leytonstone Library on the issues around King George Hospital and the Health and Social Care.
